White and Grey Kitchen

Finally...the kitchen has been mostly done for a while, but I haven't had the time to take any pictures AND keep it clean for five minutes while the boys were home.

I've been wanting a white kitchen FOREVA. I loved our reddish/brown cabinets when we moved in and they were new. But as they wore, they started to look a little tired. And the color started to feel orange...and when the sun would shine in the window in the morning, I would see a meeeelion little fingerprints and smudges and wipe marks, even though I wiped them down all the time.

So-without further interruption, is my mostly complete kitchen. The photo's aren't super awesome quality because I don't have a super awesome camera...

I feel like I live in a new house.

  7. Well done! Did you put bead board on the inside of that open cab or is it bead board wall paper?

    1. I did use the beadboard in the back of the cupboard...it's so much easier to get in there than wood...but now I'm sort of wanting to put the wallpaper from my pantry in there. Never finished :)

  15. Love the white cabinets. I have been trying to convince my husband for a couple of years now that we need to paint our ugly honey oak cabinets white. So far, no dice. This is a great kitchen to show him. Love how it turned out. Such a fresh look.

    1. Men are weird with wood - even not great kitchen cabinet wood (and in my case, not super quality). I slowly introduced him to the idea by first painting the island...I have a bad habit of just doing. Of course I figure my months and MONTHS of talking about it are warning enough. I dove in with the other cabinets the same way. He just rolls his eyes now. I hope you get your white kitchen soon!!
      Thanks for coming by :)

  16. Great job on your kitchen. I love white kitchens... I think they're so fresh & classic looking. I'm curious, where did you get the red striped rug next to the sink? I really like it.

    1. I got the rug from Big Lots a few years back - oddly enough, I've gotten some super cute striped rugs from there in the last few years. I always check the rugs when I go...you just never know.

  17. It looks so great! I love the beadboard backsplash. I recently added one to my kitchen, too, and I love the clean look and cottage feel. Great job!

  18. Wow what an amazing transformation! I have to add some hooks to the side of my cabinets for tea towels like you did, very clever. And the island and bar stools are amazing! Thanks for sharing.
